ABOUT EXECUTIVE CHEF LARRY

Larry Roby, Rent-a-Chef
A native of Cumberland, Larry began his career in 1972 as a burger wrapper at Mr. Ed's. Next, he was on a shrimp boat off Corpus Christi. Then he traveled and worked with some great chefs. In 1980, Larry took a position at the Hilton in Dallas to study with two master chefs and earn titles of saute' specialist and executive saucier chef. In 1986, he came to Garrett County to work at the Wisp Resort, then the Silver Tree and McClive's. From a customer's suggestion came the idea of Rent-a-chef. Larry's work, which he considers his pleasure, now happens in Deep Creek Lake homes preparing the range from a formal dinner to a backyard bbq's and pig roast.
